No my experience, there are plenty of these techy customers online but I have yet to meet such Apple user IRL
- Terretta 3y ago>> product that it fully controlled and customers were fully aware of > No my experience, there are plenty of these techy customers online but I have yet to meet such Apple user IRL The entire premise and point of the Apple experience is not having to be fully aware of the tech. At all. Ever. For most Apple users, the tech is just not the point. It's that it is air. Don't think about it unless it's missing or stinks.
- bluSCALE4 3y agoThis. I left Android because they were slowly becoming a more rigid company and everything I had loved and valued were gone and Apple slowly started adding them to their OS. I was fully aware what I was buying into and what I was losing but I no longer cared because it felt only a matter of time before Android is the same. Though I've gotten less use out of my Apple phone, I don't really care because I've given up on the idea that a phone is an uncompromised computer.
- TerrifiedMouse 3y agoI made the jump from Android fairly early on when I realized that phones are terrible general purpose computers and that I mostly just use it as a phone - i.e. use almost exclusively the restricted subset of features that’s typical of smartphones. I lose nothing moving to the iPhone and gain a better UX (no crap installed by carriers or anyone else for the matter) and get better post sales care (long term updates and quick security patches).
- bluSCALE4 3y agoUp until recently, I would have said you were missing out since Android had a lot of unique things. Now, I agree. Android still does notifications better and I loved touch sensor customization like swiping the S8's sensor to open/close notifications menu, but even that may be coming soon with action button being replaced with touch button. Discovering shortcuts was a game changer and the live widgets are great. I'm stuck on iPhone 12 because I want to stay with mini but the dynamic island seems like a great addition. The only thing I miss is side loading and emulators, but again, even that might be coming. Android literally only has photos and google home devices over me. I don't even care for gmail anymore.
- Drew_ 3y ago> The entire premise and point of the Apple experience is not having to be fully aware of the tech. At all. Ever. This couldn't be further from the truth. They change the tech every year. The Apple experience is being distinctly aware of all the new tech available every year because of Apple's sheer force of marketing and FOMO.
- Klonoar 3y agoThe average consumer isn’t paying attention to this stuff. Literally: as long as it’s faster, longer battery life, and better camera, they will buy it or upgrade to it. It’s a status symbol.
- Drew_ 3y ago> The average consumer isn’t paying attention to this stuff. You quite literally admit they do in your very next sentence.
