What kind of graph manipulation are you thinking of? I have the feeling that while graphs are all around us, I have seldom had the need to implement complex operations beyond depth/breadth search, and "harder" things like path finding, cycle detection or topological sort have been much more likely to appear in Advent of Code puzzles than in my professional life. Perhaps it's just a matter of areas of work, tho.
