What feature was that?
- lproven 3y ago[Author/submitter here] It's described in the Wikipedia article on the 286, under "OS Support" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_80286#OS_support https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_80286#OS_support It was discussed here on HN earlier this year: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36649261 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=36649261 Be sure to follow all the links and read the contemporary accounts. The comments are very amusing in a sad way. I recently discovered that it is a meme for we 40+ year old people now to have the experience of 30-somethings passionately telling us that historical events we personally witnessed never happened. The angry denials in many HN threads are a perfect example. I've had many examples myself, but then, I'm a published writer. Right now the Reddit discussion of this article is full of angry (I presume) youngsters telling me I am totally wrong and frantically downvoting me.
