Not quite sure what the reference to parasite refers to unless it is to the thief. The article is about theft of AI technology developed outside of China to further enhance the mining and use of troves of personal data China has stolen over the years on citizens of United States and elsewhere. The theft and data mining is a concern for anyone who values freedom and privacy. By the way the reasonable protection of intellectual property is the engine of modern-day economic growth. China is a good example of failing to stimulate sufficient innovation so its recourse is theft of innovations achieved by countries that do protect intellectual property. And unfortunately their end goals involve social control and imprisonment of those who disagree or embarrass the CCP.
- BillyTheMage 3y agoI don't buy into the idea that one evil action is an excuse for another evil action. Innovations cannot be "stolen" unless you view knowledge as property, which is evil. And there's no doubt about it, the US government and corporations are using these technologies for just as evil of purposes as China. I fail to see how allowing people and corporations to claim ownership if ideas can be anything but parasitic. If I see a good idea, I'm going to use it. You think it's okay for some goons to come over and throw me in jail for using the "wrong" ideas? That's obvious comical evil.
