It seems to me that frameworks are too big to develop easily and they lock the user into a certain... well... framework. Anyone interested in coming up with a bottom up approach? Ie. make higher and higher level tools for a certain task (almost certainly web programming) until one could create a webserver with a few lines or move as low level as needed to make modifications and use the high-level components elsewhere?

- pmjordan 18y agoI think you'll find that many frameworks actually emerged from a bottom-up approach. Build a web app from scratch, branch it and transform it into another web app, then repeat until you get pissed off with maintaining all those separate code bases. Then, separate out the shared bits and you've organically grown yourself a framework. It's just usually the authors don't expose a clean API for all the steps in between.
