The submission title is "In 2024T-Mobile will start monitoring SMS and fining users for violations", yet there's no mention of "monitoring" in the article, even though that may be a consequence of these policies.
- woodruffw 3y agoEvery cell network already monitors SMS traffic; it's how they enforce requirements like "responding with 'STOP' really makes the other party stop." (SMS is not secure. It cannot be made secure. It should not be used in any context where the contents of your messages shouldn't be read or modified by arbitrary third parties.)
