TBH, I don't really get the whole "insulting to good candidates" idea.* People who have been in industry long enough should understand that this is pretty common. If they get insulted, that's probably bad signal since they are taking it personally. On the other hand, if the person is annoyed or frustrated by the idea I don't blame them. * Caveat for people with high levels of experience going into more senior job titles.
