Elon Musk himself talks out of both sides of his mouth. He says public markets are the best way to ensure accountability and alignment. He also says to avoid, if possible, ever going public due to regulatory overhead. I suppose both can be true. It’s just a good reminder that when push comes to shove, special interest money would always prefer to serve fewer masters than more.
