Can anyone running a Matrix server comment on memory usage? I’m not sure which implementations are popular, but surely it requires less than 1 GB of RAM for a single user…
- LorenDB 3y agoMy instance (which currently has one user that is in one room because it's not actually used by anyone yet) is sitting at just over 200 MB for Synapse + the database. However, if you join public rooms from your account, your server memory usage will increase. I don't personally have real-world data available, but you should ideally have enough RAM to permit further growth (or a migration plan ready so you can switch to a new server).
- Arathorn 3y agoA single user instance of Synapse in a handful of rooms should be 150MB of RAM for Synapse (and some overhead for Postgres). But if that user joined every public room on Matrix, the server would find itself dealing with a firehose of 100s of msgs per second, and you’d need a much beefier box.
