If you want to increase home ownership, you either need to change renters priorities, or pay them more, or make buying a house more affordable.
- wnc3141 3y agoI think this all boils down to steering all economic policy toward increasing the labor share of income.
- Gibbon1 3y agoOld idea of mine was to institute renters old age insurance systems sort of like social security. Tax rentals and use the money to provide a subsidy for retired renters. I've gotten any number of objections when I've mentioned it. But I think it's fair when you consider the tax advantages homeowners and landlords get.
- ponector 3y agoIf you will pay renters more - prices will simply go up. The only solution is to increase available for rent housing. Good solution could be city owned condos with apartments for rent.
