Culture War Predictions for 2024
- default_friend 3y agoA list of culture war predictions for 2024, curious what you guys think/where I might be wrong. Feel free to rip to shreds.
- xkcd1963 3y agoSo wait, 2023 is a list of some fancy topics hardly anyone knows but all topics of 2024 are related to sex and feminism?
- default_friend 3y agoHuh? I don’t follow
- xkcd1963 3y ago2023 (7 social, 3 culture, 1 feminism) - Among the Spiritual Psychotics => social - social - economy/social - social - culture - culture - social/feminism - social - social - culture - culture - personal story 2024 - feminism - sex/feminism - sex - sex/feminism - social - culture - sex - feminism - culture Granted, my categories are quite abstract. But my point is that for 2024 you are mainly expecting to write about sex and feminism/gender topics, even though 2023 wasn't abstinent of any such culture wars, nor the years before it.
- siffids 3y agoSeems odd to categorise criticisms of pornography and 'sex positivity' as being conservative and anti-woke. This is much more a feminist critique than anything else, as the main arguments against both of these is how it harms women as a sex class. See, for example, Dworkin on how pornography dehumanizes women and how the pornography industry is implicated in violence against women.
