EVs and hybrids had a noticeable effect on US fuel consumption, says EPA
- ianai 3y agoPersonally, A phev has made a usual 90 mile trip anywhere from .5 gallon to 1.5 down from 3-4. While a 230 is 4-6 down from 10.5+ gallons. And the rest of the time electric. Makes a world of difference.
- Gibbon1 3y agoI bought a hybrid and the payback due to reduced fuel costs would be 6 years or something not figuring in maintenance or previous vehicle wasn't going to make another 6 years. Then again there is something to be said for minimizing your required monthly expenditures. Hybrid reduced that by $220/month.
- miguelazo 3y agoGreat to see this, but also a big bummer tucked in there: >I'm also not thrilled that 63 percent of all new vehicles built in MY2022 were truck SUVs, pickup trucks, and minivans/vans, which are subject to less stringent corporate average fuel economy standards, as opposed to the more stringent light-duty regulations. The EPA says this is the highest percentage of trucks since 1975, and it's only going to get worse for model-year 2023.
