In my youth I did VJing at a local night spot, and one time (the first time?) my PC didn't boot up (not uncommon after being tossed in a car and driven 40km). Naturally I didn't have a monitor with me to debug it (since my 19" CRT weighed about as much as I did), only a composite video output card which didn't work until after the system had booted. So after pondering my predicament for a minute or so, I unplugged the computer and gave it a sharp smack on the side of the case. This re-seated whatever had been un-seated, it booted fine and from there the gig went off without a hitch.
