Looking to sell my ramen profitble SaaS side business
Hello,
Beginning 2022 I have launched postoptions.app which is a close to realtime US option screener as a side business.
Since then, the service had several paying users reaching 864$ in net revenue.
The business is 100% passive. I had many users requesting new features but I don't have time anymore.
I'm looking to sell it even for a low exit price. It is not incorporated and it uses Stripe as payment processor (verifiable).
Where can I find people willing to buy?
- jaggs 3y agoMaybe Flippa.com?
- mrhesham 3y agoThey didn't accept it. The revenue is too small.
- 0xEF 3y agoI've been looking for ways to invest my (meager) extra cash to generate passive income, however your app is a wee bit outside of my wheelhouse. That said, I'm probably not the only HN user who would like a small, profitable project. Can you tell us more about the backend, user expectations and what your target price would be?
- mrhesham 3y agoHere is a compilation of some questions I got: What is the backend written in? .Net Core (C#) + SqlServer + Laravel (Frontend) - Running on a Linux Hetzner instance What Hetzner location are you using? Ashburn US Is the data from Tradier real-time? Are there any limitations to the data? Yes RealTime, the only limitation is the rate limited to 120 api calls per minute What are the features updates that have been requested? The features requested are mainly adding more filtering properties and adding new complex option strategies to the screener What's the agreement with tradier? Why are they providing data for free, can they start charging you if you get bigger? Tradier is offering their market data and trading API for free for established platforms, see here https://tradier.com/platforms https://tradier.com/platforms Their goal is to create an ecosystem of third party vendors.I can easily add the feature to trade options on Tradier.com from within postoptions.app. If I do that Tradier will make money and I make commissions. This is the essence of the agreement. How many of your users are friends and family? Zero Who's your main competitor and why are you differentiated? My main competitor will be https://optionsamurai.com/ https://optionsamurai.com/, my product offers realtime screening, theirs has a delay of several minutes. But overall my product has fewer strategies
- satvikpendem 3y agoHow did you find your current customers, and couldn't you do more marketing via that method to grow more? Does Tradier also offer an options screener that you're just wrapping, or what's the competitive advantage? How were you able to sign an agreement with Tradier, was there some competitive advantage that allowed you to sign with them that your competitors could not also sign with Tradier or a similar company? Just some thoughts I had.
- james-revisoai 3y agoIs this monthly revenue or total so far? Recurring? What do you costs look like?
- mrhesham 3y agomonthly revenue is around 60$ , cost is a stable 20$ for hosting.
- joshxyz 3y agohow about microacquire
- mrhesham 3y agoMicroacquire requires incorporation
- trevyn 3y agoHave you done any marketing? Edit: Your domain doesn’t even load for me…?
- mrhesham 3y agotry https://www.postoptions.app https://www.postoptions.app No marketing apart from being listed on Tradier.com
- hemantv 3y agoHow much do you pay for data?
- mrhesham 3y agoData is free from Tradier.com, I have signed an agreement with them.
- thelastparadise 3y ago> Since then, the service had several paying users reaching 864$ in net revenue. MRR?
- mrhesham 3y agoCurrently my MRR is 60$
- IMTDb 3y agoThat’s not event close to ramen profitable unless you live in a very very low COL country.
- quickthrower2 3y agoIt will pay for the ramen!
- mrhesham 3y agoThe only cost is 20$ for a linux instance on Hetzner. How is that not profitable ? and I live in the most expensive country in the world. Switzerland
- codingdave 3y ago"ramen profitable" is typically understood to mean that you could live off the profits... if you were willing to reduce your lifestyle to just working on it and eating nothing but ramen.
- kohanz 3y agoYour app is profitable but not "ramen profitable". If a business is ramen profitable, it means it's making just enough money for the founders to pay for living expenses
- altdataseller 3y agoWell if you take the name literally, it’s enuff to buy ramen for a month to eat a meal a day :)
- psikomanjak 3y agoHi I might be interested. How can I contact you? My email is on my profile.
- mrhesham 3y agohit me on support@postoptions.app
- JCharante 3y agoThank you for sharing. It gives me hope as I work on my own side-saas
- PepGuardiola 3y agoWhat stack are you using please?
- mrhesham 3y ago.Net Core (C#) + SqlServer for backend and Laravel for the frontend
- brysonreece 3y agoConsidering Laravel is a backend framework, I’d be interested to know more about what this means.
- codegeek 3y agoI assume OP has built the frontend/webapp in Laravel (for dasboard, auth etc) and the actual API/Data processing backend in .NET.
- mdbmdb 3y agowhat price are you looking to sell for?
- galdosdi 3y agoSounds like maybe you have 4 users, based on your pricing ($15 per month each). Pretty cool! The jump from 0 to nonzero users to multiple users is huge, really impressive. The question is how do you think you got those users? What drew them in? Do you have any ideas for expanding? "many users requesting new features" -- is that one of the 4 existing customers or someone else?
- curious_baldy 3y agoThis got me interested, how is it different from barchart? I used their free options screener, but it had limitations.
