YAML, Python and the Holy Graal
- ksjskskskkk 3y agoyaml, all the xml mistakes for the new generations! can't wait for yamxslt.
- Ygg2 3y agoTake that back. Yaml saw billion laughs attack and thought: "I want some of that. Natively."
- fijiaarone 3y agoAnd all the makefile & python mistakes
- ksjskskskkk 3y agomakefiles are awesome but misunderstood and widely abused.
- lmm 3y agoThe problem with XSLT wasn't that it was a programming language, the problem was that it was awful. Don't throw the declarative document transformation language baby out with the XSLT bathwater.
- lijok 3y agoThe levels of satire are just gratuitous
- keeganpoppen 3y agohaving spent an unreasonable amount of time hacking on yaml for… well… no reason… this tickles me endlessly. and im not surprised that he / they gave up on YAML. honestly i feel like half of this project is just flexing ridiculous syntax YAML hacks, and im here for it. if he happens to see this: wtf is up with YAML anchor syntax, man? who in their right mind is like “hmm i just loved typing that key name in, i wanna do it right next to the original one”? so good they named it twice. xP i actually hacked in a custom tag that lets you !ref <path> instead, which… i’m not saying it’s better, but… it’s definitely not worse xD. i have been having fun, though. i guess.
- corytheboyd 3y agooh dear god I saw the word yamlscript and closed the tab instinctually lol
- indymike 3y agoNext, csvscript.
- fijiaarone 3y agoI thought this was about GitHub Actions.
- LilBytes 3y agoI thought it was about Azure DevOps, disgustingly I recognise some of the syntax from some of my own pipelines.
- scrame 3y agothis just seems like a ... bad idea?
- richbell 3y agoThis is really cool; I hate this.
