Interoperability, Privacy, & Security
- modeless 3y agoThe timing of this post makes it seem quite relevant to Apple blocking Beeper from iMessage. Too bad the headline doesn't mention it explicitly because I don't expect this story to hit the front page with this boring headline. Despite the post not containing the words "Apple" or "Beeper", quotes like "The FTC will closely scrutinize any claims that competition must be impeded to advance privacy or security" are on point and the post is chock full of them.
- Handy-Man 3y agoI didn’t want to editorialize the title. You can repost if you want, I’ll delete it.
- nicce 3y agoNot sure if it is good to editorialize based on speculation. Apple and iMessage is not the only nor even the biggest problem on the market.
- modeless 3y agoSurely there are always problems in the market, but this post seems too close a match to the Beeper situation in both timing and wording to be a coincidence, especially considering the legislative attention it has already attracted. Which other recent "claims that competition must be impeded to advance privacy or security" might have prompted this post?
- nicce 3y agoSorry, the Apple vs Beeper has surely impacted for this post to happen. But it is not explicitly meant for them. Meta, Google, Apple, Microsoft and Amazon needs to compile for DMA in EU in 3 months which might be interesting for FCC as well.
- modeless 3y agoI was trying myself to come up with a title that didn't editorialize the words Beeper or Apple into it but was still catchy enough to hit the front page. But I didn't come up with anything. If some journalists write articles about it with catchy titles then maybe those will pop up here.
