My local west coast newspaper (Owned by USA Today) used to pull this crap. Offer a $8 subscription for 6 months with a simple click, then automatically switch to monthly billing at $15/month and you had to call, during east coast business hours (again, I live on west coast) and if! they answered, they would work very hard to make sure you didn't cancel. I started using the virtual cards from Privacy.com, and only authorizing the original purchase. its been a game changer.
