7.1M miles, 3 minor injuries: Waymo's safety data looks good
- CSMastermind 3y agoDoes anyone have a link to the actual study the article is referencing? The article links a different study from September with some questionable methodical choices: https://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/2309/2309.01206.pdf https://arxiv.org/ftp/arxiv/papers/2309/2309.01206.pdf
- boulos 3y agoI linked to it in https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38722356 https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=38722356 .

Since it has the original source, we can re-up it and merge this thread thither.

- Digit-Al 3y agoIt seems to me that the three accidents mentioned all appear to be the responsibiliy of the human driven vehicles rather than the Waymo vehicles. The July one doesn't give enough details to be certain; in the August one it is pretty clear to me that the human driver did not leave themselves enough time to stop when the Waymo vehicle came to an unexpected halt; and the October one has someone madly driving up behind the vehicle and smashing into it, despite the Waymo vehicle attempting to speed up to avoid the collision.
