Opinion on Learning Data Science for a Undergrad Student
I'm a computer science student, and I'm thinking about making a career move into data science. I am average in coding, but I can manage it. Is data science a good career in 2024 - 2025? I'd love to hear from those who've been there – what got you into data science, and any advice for someone like me just starting out?
Your thoughts will really help me figure things out.

- Raman_Thakur 3y agoWell, I do agree with you. I have already started with the basics. Python - I have mostly completed, Tableau - I have started with, NumPy, and Pandas - I have to start learning. Do you know where I can find a huge chunk of datasets I can use to play with? Also, if you could guide me with some project ideas as well?
- mnky9800n 3y agokaggle can do all of this better than i can.

- extr 3y agoFocus on a specific domain or specialization rather than “data science” as a whole. The idea that you can make a career out of knowing some pandas and scikit-learn has been dead for some time. Rather: what industry do you want to work in? What specific part of the data/ML ecosystem do you want to add value to?
- Raman_Thakur 3y agoOkay, thanks for clarifying. However, the challenge is that I hail from India, and here, getting a job as a fresher in data science is a little difficult. Most companies prefer candidates with experience unless they are from a "top-tier university", which I am not :/. So, I need to learn the basics from each domain. But, I am scared that by doing this, I might become a jack of all trades and master of none lol. Any advice on this?
