There is a thing called "longevity" - i.e. ability to source the same SKUs for 5 years. It's very important in Embedded / Industrial / Military markets. The only reliable way to achieve longevity is to buy spare parts and store them for entire period. Of course the supplier will charge much higher price. After longevity period is over the parts should be destroyed.
