Lines up with what I’ve read elsewhere, regarding that span of 3-5 years featuring an unusual minimum in US naval capability (especially attack subs, which are speculated to play a major role in any defense of the straight against landing craft). Due to procurement decisions made years ago, and now unavoidable—there’s a huge lead time on building ships (or “boats”) and it’s hard to change course, as it were, once you’ve set it.
