So Herodotus stories of hotboxing Scythians is also likely true?
- zingababba 3y agoWhere do you think they got this idea??
- biorach 3y agohotboxing?
- mjhay 3y agoThey would (reportedly) burn a bunch of cannabis in tents to get high. The pipe was a surprisingly late invention.
- kromem 3y agoThe most interesting part about that story is that "anointing oneself, going into a tent and hotboxing" bears a striking resemblance to the story of Moses after discovering he could talk to God through the burning bush continuing to do so after anointing himself in a double layered tent where everyone would know he was talking face to face with God because a cloud would appear in front of the tent. Given both the find of burning cannabis in the holiest of holies of the 8th century BCE temple in Tel Arad and the 10th-9th century BCE importing of bees from Anatolia to the only discovered Southern Levantine apiary at Tel Rehov in the "land of milk and honey," maybe the practice wasn't unique or isolated to the 5th century BCE Scythians. This is particularly interesting in light of the theory that the lost tribe of Dan were actually the Denyen sea people of Adana, Anatolia - a theory that's had a bit of a resurgence after the discovery in the past few years of Aegean style pottery made with local clay in Tel Dan.
