I've read about the JWST and know all about the optical path and why the 400-600nm range is not there. I simply said it was a shame that that range wasn't included so we could get Blue and Green. I hardly view that as complaining and even if it were, why the hell are you getting so bent out of shape over a simple statement? Maybe don't be an ass.
- xwolfi 3y agoYou're the one on the verge of swearing to be fair. He pointed out your misunderstanding of the purpose of a telescope (to see things we need to see, rather than things we can see with eyes adapted to the heavy brightness of Earth) and that your complaint was unfair since you can always just build it yourself if you like to look at yellow featureless balls in the Earth-adapted light spectrum you enjoy. No need to call him an "ass" over it, just apologize politely :)
- dylan604 3y agonow, you've gone from complaining about to whining about it. it's only a shame if you don't understand the entire purpose of the telescope. if you understood the purpose of the telescope, you'd realize why trying to make it do both IR and visible light would be pointless. to catch the faintest light of the furthest galaxies that has been red-shifted we need the most sensitive instrument would could make. ignoring blue and green wavelengths is the only way of doing it. you make every decision to enhance the ability to see the red. it's like saying it's a shame drum&bass doesn't have more guitars. you might have that opinion, but it is absolutely pointless in the purpose of the thing your opinion is about.
