I've written it before, but: one side effect of this whole ordeal that I hate is the fact that fake news sites and conspiracy theory sites that masquerade as "news sites" are not blocked. The result is that platforms are filled with bad content that some people find hard to differentiate from the truth.
- randomdata 3y ago> some people find hard to differentiate from the truth. Oh well. This recent obsession with truth is quite strange to begin with[1]. Enlightened minds do not concern themselves with absolute truths, but rather focus on establishing models that can stand up to experimentation. The model does not even have to follow truths as long as it provides sufficiently accurate results. [1] On second thought, it is not really that strange that we've seen that recent emergence. It is a great social device for nefarious actors to sway opinion in their favour – "I don't need to experiment because what I have before me is the truth!" There is a lot of incentive by those nefarious actors to promote truth seeking as being virtuous.
- Karawebnetwork 3y agoThere are still lies out there. The Earth is not flat, there is no binary solar system hidden amongst the clouds, reptilians aren't destroying the country and birds do exist.
- randomdata 3y agoAll quite easy to validate under experimentation when using a model and not relying on someone to communicate to you what they claim is true. The latter is a model that falls apart very quickly.
