- kstrauser 3y agoAhh, CenturyLink, your connection to the 1890s.
- oooyay 3y agoThey're not too bad. I got gig symmetrical with no caps. I think Quantum is their, "Okay we're going to try" brand. fwiw, when I was a Network Engineer Century Link was the gold standard to work with in terms of backbones.
- simfree 3y agoThe Lumen fiber support desk is quite easy to work with, if your Fiber+ or EIA/DIA circuit goes down they will generally answer the phone in 3 to 5 minutes, determine if it's on their side in another 5 minutes, and if so dispatch someone to fix it within a few hours.
- oooyay 3y agoAgreed. Their hardware is actually pretty decent too. They gave me a set of 4 Wifi 6 APs that were strong enough to cover my entire property.
- daedalus_j 3y agoYes, we refer to them as "LastCenturyLink". The only Telcom ever to have literally told me "you're just lucky you have a dial tone".
- Spivak 3y agoYou can just say 1990's, that's about to be 34 years ago. If you're one of those people stuck in perpetual 00's time how you think of the 70's is how the 90's are now.
- kstrauser 3y agoI once pictured their installers arriving in covered wagons. I never shook the notion.
- LinuxBender 3y agoCenturyLink accidentally told me they are about to run fiber in my rural area. We already have fiber through a small ISP that properly used its federal funding. Curious how many accidental fiber cuts this will lead to. Maybe they will help drive the costs down. Agreed that when talking to them I sensed old school telco which I used to be a part of.
