What's the point of equipping SFO with ILS if it's just going to sit idle?
- kayodelycaon 3y agoILS is needed when conditions don’t allow visual approaches. Like, clouds existing.
- jaywalk 3y agoClouds at SFO???? Never!
- CaliforniaKarl 3y agoCharted/Published visual approaches use the localizer part of the ILS equipment, and pilots have the option of using the glide slope. “ILS” is equipment, but it’s also procedures and (increased) spacing (compared to visual separation).

- kortilla 3y agoIt’s not “a few”. Parallel landings allow double the throughput.
