How GM thinks removing CarPlay and Android Auto is a strategically beneficial move, is mind boggling. I literally can't imagine how the reasoning happened, except for some really strong-willed exec with a lot of political power pushed it through.
Can't wait for the post-mortem analysis in 10 years.
- itomato 3y agoInstead of working with their software vendor, some VP took their edge case for battery and charge integration as a reason to commit seppuku.
- bluGill 3y agoThe terms to car makers for this stuff isn't always nice to car makers. I'm under NDA here so I can't say more.
- ghaff 3y agoThat may be true but it's close to a dealbreaker for me and presumably a lot of other people. Not that I'd probably buy a GM vehicle anyway.
- lotsofpulp 3y agoNot my problem. And if the terms are so bad, then car makers have a simple solution. Make it easy to swap in a CarPlay compatible third party headunit.
- phpisthebest 3y agoYes because the phone companies do not allow the car makers to spy on me, which they should not be doing anyway.. Sorry that is not something i am going to cry for GM over
