I'm ashamed to admit this, but I see this in myself. I used to read a lot. Mostly fiction. I enjoyed it. It was good for my creativity, sense of self, imagination, etc. A good book would hook me and I would stay up til 4 am to finish it, much to my sleep detriment.
I noticed that when I try to read a book now days, I really struggle to make progress. If it's good, maybe half way through, I'll experience that same "can't put it down" but honestly, it may take weeks or months before I get to that point.
I feel guilty/FOMO when reading escapist literature anymore. Like constantly scrolling on some remote conflict or political machinations isn't also about as useful. But my brain has a hard time "justifying" reading for pleasure's sake.
