5. The allocator must be able to mesh into debugging tools like ASAN and valgrind. Not having these tools available is a serious kneecapping yourself. C is bad enough with all the tooling you can get… I've only dealt with valgrind so far, integrating with it is pretty easy (a line or two of annotations in each function.) It just needs to be done. (To be fair this is a requirement on the allocator, not on the API a library exposes to throw in a custom allocator.)
