'Endemic' SARS-CoV-2 and the death of public health
- ggm 3y agoBleak but an important read. Critique will inevitably be across a political divide because public health is a directed activity amongst us and not a self reliance individual control thing. It demands we accede to the group, inevitably the state, a locus of control. I'm not totally convinced we have peaked in communicable zoonotic disease control, but it's a strong case. We like travel too much and we're all experts.
- yawpitch 3y ago> We need to be clear why containment of SARS-CoV-2 was actively sabotaged and eventually abandoned. Amen. Endemic was the worst possible case scenario, and governments in the US and UK actively (if, I hope, ignorantly) embraced it… once those two were lost to the cartoonish buffoons in charge the entire world was doomed to millions (if not, eventually, billions) of deaths. I’m just glad it wasn’t a filovirus on the watch of those idiots.
