What's the difference between a job loss and a productivity gain?
- chank 3y agoHow and who is effected.
- pixl97 3y agoWhy not both? That doesn't mean it's necessarily a good thing at extremes. Lets imagine a fully automated world where 10 billionaires own all the land. For them productivity is pretty much infinity. They push a button and robots make it happen. But the 6th person that is not part of the owner class is effectively screwed in this world. They don't got no land, and they don't got no robots. They have no means of supporting themselves. The only way they'd survive is by slumming off for scraps of the wealthy. --- This is the question many of us are asking now. As things become more automated, what value are you going to add to require the ruling class to keep you around?
- ben_w 3y agoThe difference is which goes up, GDP or unemployment.
