I find it hard to take the real problems discussed seriously here because there are, at no point, any tradeoffs acknowledged. It's like a critique of motorization looking like saying the real problem with this here newfangled "car" thing is that it takes space off of the road for hardworking coachdrivers, horse breeders, tamers, and stablehands.
- cratermoon 3y agoThe author addresses tradeoffs several times. In the section Eyes on the prize, he writes, "there’s also some baby in this bath water for meaningful numbers of people." Many of the points made earlier, in The dumb critique, compare the value and utility of these tools directly against some of the criticisms.
