Ukraine grenade incident: Councillor tosses explosives into meeting
- h2odragon 3y agoIt would seem sensible to me, if someone drops a grenade into a room you are in, to leave the room. There might not be sufficient time; there may be impediments in the form of other people who (intentionally or not) get in the way; but some effort to do something besides sit there seems called for. Or is this just anther one of those things where I'm crazy and the rest of the world knows better? - ChumpGPT 3y agoYou're assuming too much. The lack of reaction was because 95% of the room didn't see him drop it or understand what fell. Even he stood there like nothing was going to happen. It could also have been a prank where he thought is was a fake but turned out to be a real grenade which would explain why he didn't even try to escape.
- Nextgrid 3y agoOn video you can see the attacker himself remain there and a grenade explode right next to him. I wonder if he either intended to use training grenades and they turned out to be real, or if these are actually training grenades and he significantly underestimated their power (otherwise he wouldn't remain right next to one)?
- Nextgrid 3y agoI am amazed that several grenades being tossed into a meeting room full of unprepared civilians didn't yield any casualties.
