When I met my now wife she had a Beosound Ouverture in her flat. I asked her why she would buy something so expensive and she told me it wasn't that much and it was really pretty. I think she paid like 1100£ from John Lewis. As a gearhead this was in line with what I spend for some aftermarket NISMO parts. We moved in together wanted to upgrade the system and found it was incompatible with damn near anything. We literally shelved the Beosound (literally put on a bookshelf, it is quite pretty to look at) and bought a quality hi-fi system.
