I’m a firm believer that 90% of today’s mental health issues could be solved by:
1. Regularly spending time doing manual work out in the sunshine.
2. Getting enough rest
3. Eating a healthy diet that doesn’t include processed foods.
The remaining 10% are major psychological disorders that science still has no answers for.
- nullindividual 3y agoWhere did you make up these statistics?
- eimrine 3y ago90% of civilized world lives in cities which are well-known suppliers of concrete boxes, business in the sense of having no rest and ultra-processed foods.
- nullindividual 3y ago~55-56% of the world lives in urban environments. Why make up numbers? https://ourworldindata.org/urbanization https://ourworldindata.org/urbanization https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/11/global-continent-urban-population-urbanisation-percent/ https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/11/global-continent-urba... I don't disagree that sunshine, healthy foods, etc. can help, but to not only say that "90%" of mental health issues could be resolved by just going outside (hint: >10% are impacted by non-environmental mental health conditions which require medication, such as bipolar, schizophrenia, ...). And "10%" we have no idea what to do with? Eh, just ignorance all around. This isn't reddit. Do research.
- eimrine 3y agoYour source tells following "Across most high-income countries – across Western Europe, the Americas, Australia, Japan and the Middle East – more than 80% of the population live in urban areas." I don't believe that anything in Psy* industry has any relation to Science. Those problems listed here can be easily cured by Philosophy. For example, what is schizophrenia, is this the gray matter damage? The white matter damage? Nobody knows because Psychiatry is 100% about obeying the government masquerading as a Medicine.
- spaceprison 3y agoI also have a sense that community is a missing piece.
- unnamed76ri 3y agoOh for sure. I should have listed that also. We are in an epidemic of disconnected-ness.
- sp332 3y agoYou're listing things that are required, but there are also some things that need to be removed. A constant threat of being attacked, evicted, starving etc can really weigh on a person. Physical illness also needs to be treated. If rent is going up and medical treatment is harder to get, that's going to cause mental health problems.
