Flying hurts the planet but vital for island tourism. Is there a greener way?
- okokwhatever 3y agoThere are so many wrong things in this narrative. Obviously a ban to flights is gonna affect island population (I mean, hello?), and keep it just for wealthy tourists is so disgusting that scares the shit out of me. I mean, the spiral of events around trimming our freedom is dangerous and nobody is rising a word afraid of being cancelled. This is not the world I want to be part of.
- RetroTechie 3y agoArticle touches on it: cost for visitors will correlate to their environmental & community impact. Probably more so as time goes on. Find ways to keep those low (or even positive), and tourism can be affordable & sustainable. Electric aviation is one option. Boats another. Btw: isn't this (mostly) how things work already?
