Does anyone actually use an X server on RHEL10? I thought mostly used for servers, and people who wanted a good Linux desktop had switched to a different distro (or, more likely, Mac) a long time ago.
- phone8675309 3y agoYes. We use nVidia GPUs as they're the only products performant enough for our applications and the Wayland support is complete dogshit.
- creatonez 3y agoRHEL Workstation is primarily used for graphics workstations to run ports of old SGI-compatible software, and in particle physics laboratories for loading all workstations with a standard set of science, mathematics, and TeX publishing software. RHEL is also used in automotive applications, such as in-car entertainment systems, but this use case has already standardized on Wayland (it was one of the first things Wayland was widely used for)
