Marooned in Realtime is incredible, one of the best sci-fi books I've ever read. The combination of the wildly imaginative SF elements with the detective novel structure grounding it works so incredibly well.
- spookybones 3y agoCan I jump right to this novel or do I have to start elsewhere? I've never read him before.
- e40 3y agoI believe Marooned is a stand-alone story. Fire Upon the Deep is the first of 2 (or 3?). I highly recommend that. Older readers will love the Usenet jokes.
- chrispine 3y agoIt builds on the Peace War, and I'd read that first. (But also, both books are fairly short, much smaller than Fire Upon the Deep.)
- jomhna 3y agoIt stands alone. I read it first before Peace War and didn't find Peace War as good, though still very enjoyable.
