the billionaires can't decide if AI will create for them a god or a demon. But they do know they're going to make them boatloads of cash at everyone else's expense no matter which way it goes, they aren't debating that part.
- tharne 3y agoThere’s nothing to debate. This is the way these folks have been operating for decades. Why change now?
- quickthrower2 3y agoLike the street corner drug dealer doctrine: "if we didn't do this someone else would anyway!"
- kromem 3y agoI wouldn't be so sure of that outcome. There's diminishing returns on productivity gains at mega-corps that there isn't at small and medium sized businesses competing against them. If Walmart has AI that can automate 99% of legal processes they save money to make their quarter look good. If Dave's mom and pop gets AI that's a 100x increase in legal capabilities, maybe their suit for unfair business practices against Walmart isn't as David and Goliath as it used to be. The ways in which AI is going to impact the long tail instead of the short tail may be being underestimated.
