Is .NET just miles ahead or am I delusional?
- PaulHoule 3y agoIt is amazing to me how dominant .NET is in the gaming space. When Sony was struggling with the difficulty of porting games to the PS3 they created the PhyreEngine framework based on .NET that used Microsoft technology to make games super portable. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PhyreEngine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PhyreEngine

- danielovichdk 3y agoYes it is. And it is because Microsoft has not only been creating languages and tooling, but platforms. It's miles ahead in tooling. Look at the tools for programming against their database, it unprecedented. VS code and VS are great tools. Some might say rider but it does not add anything to my tool chain VS does not offer. The language features of .NET are evolving with features that does not break compatibility nor following trendy fads. When they are adding things they do it with clear intent and through years long validation. The platform is vast and well supported within the .NET ecosystem. With its open source approach it had become even a bigger joy. Not to mention documentation which is also unmatched.
