- text0404 3y agowhat's wrong with al jazeera?
- LtWorf 3y agoThey don't blindly repost Israeli propaganda.
- burnerburnson 3y agoThey are state-owned media for an authoritarian government that is hostile to Israel. They are incentivized to make Israel look bad.
- r00fus 3y agoAl-Jazeera has some incredibly great reporting for the past couple of decades across many conflicts. The fact that Israel doesn't like their reporting doesn't necessarily make their reporting less factual.
- edanm 3y agoThey are considered incredibly biased against Israel, certainly by Israelis. (Israelis consider a lot of media slightly biased against them, but Al Jazeera is in a completely different league.)
- akvadrako 3y agoThey are mostly (or fully, based on their banner) funded by Qatar, which is kinda allied with Hamas. For stuff unrelated to Qatar, they are pretty unbiased. But that changes when their owners actually have an interest in the matter.
- hydrok9 3y agothey're openly biased, but by far the best mainstream news Outlet in the region
- sys32768 3y agoScroll through a few dozen of their headlines at https://www.aljazeera.com/tag/israel-palestine-conflict/ https://www.aljazeera.com/tag/israel-palestine-conflict/ and you will quickly discover a glaring pro-Palestinian bias that is almost comical if you are proposing they do objective, disinterested reporting. I gave up after about 20 pages to find anything indicating otherwise.
- gtroja 3y agoI would do the other way around....
- jacooper 3y agoYou mean the only news outlet who hasn't lied once since the start of the conflict? Unlike CNN, BBC and others who just believed IDF lies like the beheaded babies thing?
- justrealist 3y agoAl Jazeera blatantly lied about the rocket launch that landed on the Al Shifa hospital, putting on pure misinformation to explain why it was not possible for a rocket to have landed there.
- jacooper 3y agoNew York times confirmed it was Israeli shells that hit Al shifa hospital. https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/14/world/middleeast/israel-gaza-al-shifa-hospital.html https://www.nytimes.com/2023/11/14/world/middleeast/israel-g...
- SlickNixon 3y agoIs there another noteworthy rocket strike in the vicinity of Al Shifa hospital that the comment you replied to might have been referencing?
- fngjdflmdflg 3y agoI think that GP was referring to a different hospital. Al Jazeera had claimed that the Israeli Air Force had bombed the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital, killing 500. The missile was found to be from PIJ and did not even hit the hospital but the parking lot. Al Jazeera continues to deny this last I checked.
- jacooper 3y agoGive me a source, all shelling was from the IDF, and they have already hit multiple hospitals, and now committed a massacre in a school. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblog/2023/12/13/israel-hamas-war-live-world-calls-for-ceasefire-as-israel-bombards-gaza https://www.aljazeera.com/news/liveblog/2023/12/13/israel-ha... Even Israeli media have said all statistics we know about Oct 7th are fake, including that stupid festival, the IDF shot it's own settlers. https://x.com/Esralshikh/status/1731399685879767522 https://x.com/Esralshikh/status/1731399685879767522
