Ukrainian intelligence attacks and paralyses Russia's tax system
- cafard 3y agoThey might accomplish more by hacking banks in Cyprus and putting the data out there.
- potatopatch 3y agoMight backfire by forcing Russia to simplify their tax system which aside from economic gains could also free up thousands of accountants for the front line.
- andrewflnr 3y agoYou really had to reach for that one.

- timthelion 3y agoIf that forces the US to simplify their tax system it might end up being the only positive that comes from this war.
- foverzar 3y agoFinance is dominated by women workforce in Russia, so probably no frontline accountants.
- u32480932048 3y agoThis reminds me of a story I read a while back where a protest erupted outside a Human Rights Commission building that was investigating human rights abuses by the national police force. As luck would have it, the protesters went directly to the floor holding those particular records and set them on fire.
- hulitu 3y ago> As luck would have it, the protesters went directly to the floor holding those particular records and set them on fire. It was a coincidence. I bet they had perfect clothes.

- andrewflnr 3y agoRussia has separate self-employment tax? I assumed that particular idiocy was US-only.
- foverzar 3y agoIt's a more like a tax regime. Very useful for small hobby passive income penny projects, due to the fact that you can use all the electronic credit card billings like an LLC, but only pay a small income tax using an app, only when there is income and literally absolutely not a penny if there is none. Is it also a separate thing from an individual entrepreneur status in the US?
- andrewflnr 3y agoAh, no, that actually sounds very nice. The US has a situation where an employer sort of pays some extra taxes for you (social "security" and maybe another one), so if you're self-employed you have to pay that part yourself.
- jruohonen 3y agoThe difficulty with these news is that disinformation is rampant.
