Stop just using "Front end" or "Back end" to describe the Engineering you like
- proc0 3y agoCan't Product Engineers be code first? I have noticed every company I've been at there is an overemphasis on delivering direct value to the customer and neglecting the engineering of the product, which is an ironic outcome. Codebases get bloated and complexity quickly builds up because solutions are solved by throwing people and teams at the problem instead of better engineering. This can be seen by how much avoidance there is for "future proofing" the code, and as a consequence the tech debt keeps accumulating to a point of no return (and then a rewrite is cheaper). I would think people would see business value in code first engineers working on the product side, keeping the abstractions clean and working on a product architecture that allows for faster development.
