Aurga dongle can remote control any device, even a headless PC with no OS
- kstenerud 3y agoThe device looks pretty cool, but omg the marketing copy is super cringe!
- masto 3y agoI couldn't wade through it to figure out what it even is. Too much zazz.
- evolve2k 3y agoYes can someone please explain some simple use cases. Why is this a thing?
- ciwolsey 3y agoYou could just go look at the videos section.
- RockRobotRock 3y agoIt's a KVM.
- fragmede 3y agoMore specifically, you plug this thing into your raspberry pi/whatever's HDMI and USB port, and then run their app on your smartphone, and on your phone you see the video from the device, and can send input (keyboard/mouse) to it via USB.
- xchip 3y agocould anyone find the price?
- mcsniff 3y ago??? It's right on the page...$99 and currently on sale for $79. https://www.aurga.com/products/aurga-viewer https://www.aurga.com/products/aurga-viewer
- entropyie 3y ago25 years of IT industry experience, no idea what this actually is.
- cthalupa 3y agoSounds like it could be used as an IPMI style KVM, among other things.
- cthalupa 3y agoFor everyone confused as to what it does, the videos page ( https://www.aurga.com/pages/app-demo https://www.aurga.com/pages/app-demo ) shows off a handful of different use cases.
- atlas_hugged 3y agoPSA: For the love of jeebus do not attempt to read the corp speak. I’ll save you the trouble. Wireless HDMI, plus usb for $99. Currently on sale for $79. That’s it. This corp speak made me so irrationally angry, I had visions of starting a protest of the product… but it’s honestly good and fairly priced, I think, for what it is. Fire your marketing department and make that discount permanent.
- lolc 3y agoThe page doesn't even show an example setup! All I see is a HDMI dongle with no idea what the use of it is. The text doesn't help at all.
- Rychard 3y agoBased on the video (on the "videos" tab), the test setup seems to have ~120ms of latency. - The Youtube video is 30 fps (right click, select "Stats for nerds") - I measured ~4 frames of latency between the source device and the mirrored image as shown on the iPad screen This isn't a scientific measurement; there may be other factors contributing to this delay, but this assessment is based solely on how it was presented in the video. tl;dr: Probably not good for anything that requires tight timings, such as the fighting and rhythm games used in the demonstrations. The individual in the video mentions "almost zero latency", but I think anything beyond a casual gamer would notice a delay of >100ms.
- thebruce87m 3y agoTook a punt on one but fully expect to be hit with customs in the UK.
