everything else is politicians making the best of a crisis
- dmix 3y agoIt shows how gov policy is a one way street though. Any time you say yes to gov it's yes for at least a couple decades and then when issues become so apparent for so long they'll start having meetings to plan meetings to reform it and then another decade the reform will remove half the burden and leave the other half.
- tonyedgecombe 3y agoThe problem was solved by locking the door to the cockpit.
- ceejayoz 3y agoBoth, really. Locked cockpit slows them down long enough for the hundred or two pissed off passengers to get the coffee pots and go to town. Flight 93 demonstrated you're not gonna hijack a plane the old way anytime soon.
- hedora 3y agoThe doors sort of backfired. A few (non-US) pilot/copilots have used the door to hijack their own plane and intentionally crash airliners while the other pilot was in the restroom. I think they now require at least two people to stay in the cockpit at all times to work around the problem the door created. Not sure if that means an additional crew member, or if they are allowed to have a flight attendant hang out in the cabin while someone takes a whiz.
- briHass 3y agoPut the door past the front bathrooms and make First Class passengers have to use the ones in Coach with the rest of the hoi polloi.
- ARandomerDude 3y ago> the hoi polloi Fun fact, "hoi" is plural for "the" in Greek. So "the hoi polloi" literally means "the the many."
- ceejayoz 3y agoThey kinda do this; they'll bring a drink cart up to block the aisle while the door is briefly open.
