Musk hasn't demonstrated any ideals or principles. He has only demonstrated impulses.
A year ago he would not reinstate Alex Jones:

And his supposed "free speech absolutism" is nothing but hypocrisy:

Musk is an attention seeking narcissist. He is determined to turn himself into a cartoon and he is succeeding.
- Arnt 3y agoIm my view, he's stuck reasonably closely to the "secret Tesla master plan" for almost two decades. Some people will point out that he hasn't stuck 100% to it, with which I agree, but as I read it, he's followed it more than closely enough to demonstrate that he'll follow his principles. And that plan specifies ideals, so he has ideals too. Quoting: "the overarching purpose of Tesla Motors … is to help expedite the move … towards a solar electric economy, which I believe to be the primary, but not exclusive, sustainable solution."
- clouddrover 3y agoAnd it's just a shame that he felt the need to lie about Tesla so often? In 2016 Tesla claimed "as of today, all Tesla vehicles produced in our factory – including Model 3 – will have the hardware needed for full self-driving capability at a safety level substantially greater than that of a human driver": https://www.tesla.com/blog/all-tesla-cars-being-produced-now-have-full-self-driving-hardware https://www.tesla.com/blog/all-tesla-cars-being-produced-now... That was a straight up lie. Where were his ideals and principles then? Why did he lie about the $35,000 Model 3? Why did he lie about the $40,000 Cybertruck? Why does he feel the need to lie about something as trivial as quarter mile times for a truck: https://insideevs.com/news/699260/tesla-cybertruck-porsche-race/ https://insideevs.com/news/699260/tesla-cybertruck-porsche-r... It's pathetic.
- inemesitaffia 3y agoIsn't the model 3 around that price?
- clouddrover 3y agoAround that price isn't that price. They've had years to deliver on it. Still failing. That's the problem with lies. Lies make you a liar.
- inemesitaffia 3y agoYou're telling me you can't buy a model 3 at that price? Because I'm sure you can. I checked.
- clouddrover 3y agoYes.
- inemesitaffia 3y agoI saw a car for 34950. New inventory RWD. That's before any incentives.
- clouddrover 3y agoA car. We're on the web and yet somehow you can't link to your one car.
- inemesitaffia 3y agoWell I didn't bother to. I'll check again later today and send you a link

- jrflowers 3y ago> you have to admire someone who's willing to run a business into the ground for his ideals and > Im my view, he's stuck reasonably closely to the "secret Tesla master plan" for almost two decades. Make a good point. What Musk detractors aren’t willing to admit is that Alex Jones is important to the solar electric economy. We know this is true because the model 3
- illiac786 3y agothe purpose of Tesla is to make money. The plan of Elon is gain fame out of this monetary success. What facts is there showing he chose to "help expedite the move towards a solar electric economy" over classic capitalist business decisions? The thing that tends him some altruistic aura is that his plan to make money was very risky, very crazy, so people feel the need to assign it some higher purpose, while in fact money and eventually fame has always been the purpose.
- rsynnott 3y agoHonestly I suspect that a lot of this is because his fan base rewards it. He seems to desperately want people to like it, and he’s largely burned any other bridges there, so he’s largely reduced to pandering to the more conspiracy-heavy section of the far-right. I used to be pretty sceptical about social media addiction as a concept, and I’m still inclined to think that it’s not a real danger for most people. But there definitely do seem to be some vulnerable people who it really breaks.
