Ah! Now thats interesting. When I use the Algolia powered HN search eg https://hn.algolia.com/?q=infoq https://hn.algolia.com/?q=infoq it sorts by default by "Stories"->"Popularity"->"All Time". Highest scoring post there has 34 points. I would expect that at least the two posts that you dug up would appear there on the top. Or do I misunderstand how HN search should work?
- gus_massa 3y agoI'm not sure. It looks like algolia add more weight to the title than the url??? Or perhaps it's because in "[InfoQ]" it is a complete word, but in "infoq.com" it's a partial word???
- perelin 3y agoAgree, some search magic going on. Though I would expect a different ranking when I sort by "Popularity". And searching for "infoq.com" [1] gives even worse results imo. But ok, results expectations can be highly subjective :) [1] https://hn.algolia.com/?q=infoq.com https://hn.algolia.com/?q=infoq.com
