I'm not aware of anyone who is making a distro who should instead be making an application. Maybe LinuxCNC if you squint?? But that has very specific kernel requirements which are arguably best served by a custom distro.
- Barrin92 3y agoany desktop environment is effectively just an application that's trivially to install via one or two clicks or commands. Never made sense to me why there's derivatives of derivatives that just ship a different DE.
