Starbucks Has Lost $11B Globally from Boycotts over Israel-Palestine Conflict
- jfengel 3y agoLost $X from its "market cap". The company itself has lost nothing. This is a drop in stock price. The only people who lost anything are those who own company stock. Note to the author: the number of coffee-based similes you are allocated per story is 1. You might get 3 if they were good; yours aren't. I stopped reading before I hit the paywall.
- ignoramous 3y agoThe thing is, as these grassroots movements gather pace, you might see a wholesale shift in MENA politics gravitating towards the East (India / China). Despite wars in Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan, MENA was pretty much "meh" towards the US, with only a fringe harbouring ill-will, because the majority believed the US stood for liberty, like Hollywood told them. This is quickly changing in no small part due to disinfo and social media. Opportunist politicians in these countries are guaranteed to ride this shift in the Overton Window for their own gains.
