LiDAR-Equipped Ford F-150s Built for the Military Can Drive Themselves Anywhere
- jauntywundrkind 3y agoIf I didn't need people in the truck, I feel like ideally I'd make it 1/6th size or what not? Even if it was half as big it could probably have a similar-ish payload, if it didn't have a huge cab & drivers console. It is a pretty impressive & amusing wing of sensors they've thrown in the sides. I do wonder very much how durable the various sensor blisters are. It feels like tanks used to have what looked like reasonably well armored cameras, but that these things just get simpler & simpler. Fine for many circumstances, but wild to me that we're walking so far down a path of tech dependence that assumes such domain superiority, where nothing will possibly mess with that tech. Maybe I'm wrong & this stuff is more durable, or maybe we just aren't anywhere near the level of iteration/advancement in warfare for this stuff to suss up.
